Planning and building law
Hjort has some of the country's best attorneys for planning and building law.
That they are among Norway’s leading experts in the field is confirmed by the fact that Hjort personnel have been appointed to sit on the select committee on the Planning and Building Act and the Norwegian Bar Association’s committee on planning and building law. Indeed, the standard reference work on the matter, Gyldendal’s annotated edition of the Planning and Building Act, was co-authored by several of Hjort’s lawyers.
Several of our attorneys have experience of the planning application process from the authorities’ side, which has given us in-depth knowledge of the rules and systems that must be navigated at both the administrative and political level. This is an extremely important aspect of such cases.
We offer legal support in all types of planning application processes, and assist both local authorities, as the planning and building control agency, and private parties. We often work closely with the responsible applicant or the main contractor. We also represent clients involved in disputes.
Our expertise encompasses:
- assessment of development potential
- preparation of the planning proposal
- reimbursement of infrastructure expenses
- land acquisition / expropriation
- construction contracts
- preparation of planning applications, including requests for dispensation
- partitioning of title
- protests and complaints
- illegalities relating to the planning and building process
